Company Provides Innovative Recruiting and Hiring Approach for SMBs

TAMPA, Fla. – (July 6, 2009) – Hire Velocity (http://www.hirevelocity.com), a unique recruitment and hiring resource for the SMB market, has named Valeri Marks as its CEO. 

            “Valeri is a seasoned senior executive with 28 years of experience and a proven track record of maximizing shareholder value in startup and high-growth companies, both public and private,” says John West, chairman of Hire Velocity.  “She brings exactly the skill sets we were looking for and the right type of experience in building companies from the ground up, including funding, acquisitions and an IPO.”

            Marks began her career in telecommunications and ultimately became president of Ameritech’s Interactive Media Services division, launching the company’s entry into the Internet marketplace with the development of the award-winning Online Yellow Pages site and ISP service. Following the acquisition of Ameritech by SBC (now AT&T), she led SBC’s national Internet division and its 1,000 employees.

            After leaving SBC, Marks ran private technology companies in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Florida, coming to Tampa in 2006 as president and CEO of New Homes Realty, a private equity-backed online real estate company that was later sold to Lending Tree. 

            Marks received her MBA degree, with distinction, from the University of Michigan. She received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from FranklinCollege in Franklin, Ind. A member of the Advisory Board of the University of South Florida’s Center for Entrepreneurship and a Board member of the CEO Council of Tampa Bay, she is also a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and Tampa Bay Technology Forum.
