CEO Jennifer Beck Reveals Key Indicators and Data-Driven Strategies that Signal Future Leaders
Many executives believe they are good at identifying leadership talent. However, when asked how they make their decision, they often cite intuition or “gut” instincts. Leaders tend to assume if a person is highly skilled at one thing, he or she is likely to be a good leader – this bias is known as “halo effect”.
Social science research, on the other hand, suggests that it is difficult for an individual to judge who will become an effective leader. In fact, the right person using the right model can learn to assess potential with 85% accuracy.
Organizations around the world struggling with one key metric of success: leadership development. Only 15% of companies in North America and Asia believe they qualified people for key positions, and fewer than 30% of European companies feel confident about both quality and quantity of their pipeline talent. It’s clear that identifying and developing young high potential leaders is a global issue that needs our attention.
